The Communications Workers of America (CWA) launched a new radio show called “Today in Pittsburgh Labor” on KDKA Radio on March 19, 2023. The show is hosted by J-Doc and Joe Krause and airs on Sundays at 11pm ET on 1020 AM/100.1 FM.
The show explores the state of labor unions in the Pittsburgh area and features union leaders from across the community. The first episode featured an inside look at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette workers’ strike, which started on October 6 after Post-Gazette owner Block Communications effectively cut workers’ healthcare.
The show comes as Pittsburgh sees a major uptick in union activity and calls for corporate accountability. CWA District 2-13 Vice President Ed Mooney said, “Pittsburgh has a long, proud history of worker activism, and this show will honor that by putting workers’ voices front and center.”
The show is a part of CWA’s effort to build power for working people in the Pittsburgh area. CWA represents working people in telecommunications, customer service, media, airlines, health care, public service and education, manufacturing, tech, and other fields.
The show is a valuable resource for workers in the Pittsburgh area who want to learn more about their rights and how to get involved in the labor movement. It is also a valuable resource for employers who want to understand the concerns of their workers and how to build a more positive and productive workplace.
